Remembering 9/11
This day marks the 7th year since the horrible day of September 11, 2001. My husband and I are both paramedics and firefighters with family that lives in the lower bay of Manahattan and family that works at the Pentagon. That day in history was horrible for everyone, but I think especially hard for the family that lived so far away that didn't know if their loved ones lived through it...after so many years, the dust has settled, the hustle and bustle of the city has returned. But for so many that never found their family in the rubble will never have closure of that day. I hope that even if you have forgotten or placed those events you watched on TV in the back of your mind, that you have prayed for those people who are still lost or those that died. Please, don't ever forget those men and women who lost their lives fulfilling their passion for helping other people. This job is tough in its own respect and if you don't do it for a living you will never truly know what I mean, but you can try to put yourself in their shoes if only for a second and realize the fear that they felt, not knowing if they would go home that day. That is the goal at the end of every shift, is to go home....some didn't.
